OT: I just won the Masters tickets lottery!

Well, as most of you know, I'm a golf nut. I collect golf stuff, I play golf and I watch a ton of pro golf coverage. So every year I apply for tickets to Practice Rounds at The Masters. Well, this year, I finally got a letter from Augusta National. I've been offered the chance to purchase 4 tickets to the Tuesday Practice Round.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!

I plan on taking the wife, my brother and the spirit of my dad (who loved the Masters) and selling the 4th ticket so we can buy a bunch of memorabilia. Tickets are ridiculously low priced and can be sold at about 10X profit so I'll be sporting Masters clothing year round LOL.

again...I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

If anyone has ever been, please post here with advice about where to fly into and stay etc. I'll be a novice.

I live a few hours from Augusta and have been to the Master's about 12 times. I've been to one Thursday round and one Saturday round. The rest practice rounds. The Wednesday practice round and par 3 tourney are tough to beat. When I played in college a buddy of mine that played at Augusta State had badges from his grandfather and we went on Saturday. His grandparents have since past away, thereby losing their badges.

The grandstand next to 15 is a great place to watch. I go there every year.

    TOTALLY EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have not been to jawjaw before, you might consider
flying to ATL and driving to Augusta.

Driving miles are less than 300 RoundTrip. Takes less than 3-hours
each way, but you will want to stop some places and look around.

LOTS of home-cooking places to eat on the way.

Once back in ATL, you will feel like you are in NYC. Definitely worth
spending a day or two, just for the historical sites. FAB restaurants,
    too.

    .............

I think these guys are still in biz.

    Old Edgefield Grill
    202 Penn Street
    Augusta, GA 29824
    803-637-3222

Only a short drive from Augusta, GA, this fine Southern restaurant is located in a 1906 Victorian style house behind two masive magnolia trees. Visit and enjoy the South with white table linens, full service bar and the best cuisine to be found. They are open Tuesday - Saturday for lunch from 11-2 and Wednesday - Saturday for dinner from 6-9. Reservations recommended.

    .....................................

If you have time to tour, you could tool down to Savannah
    from Augusta.

It is largely what remains of the old ruling class in jawjaw.
Like stepping back in time, but with all the modern stuff.
Restoration has been the watchword and they did it right.
("Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil").

You can go back to ATL thru Macon, which is interesting, too.

I still like the Pirate's House Restaurant in SAV. But, there
    are many more popular ones.

TONS of Southern Food spots in Macon.

    ............................................

    But, remember..........

I beg your pardon, mama, what did you say?
My mind was drifting off on martinique bay.
    Its not that Im not interested, you see;
Augusta, georgia is just no place to be.

I think jamaican in the moonlight.
Sandy beaches, drinking rum every night.
    We got no money, mama, but we can go;
Well split the difference, go to coconut grove.

Keep on talking, mama, I can hear
Your voice, it tickles down inside of my ear.
I feel a tropical vacation this year,
Might be the answer to this hillbilly fear.

I think jamaican in the moonlight.
Sandy beaches, drinking rum every night.
    We got no money, mama, but we can go;
Well split the difference, go to coconut grove.

    Voila! an american dream.
Well, we can travel girl, without any means.
When its as easy as closing your eyes
And dream jamaica is a big neon sign.

Just keep talking, mama, I like that sound.
It goes so easy with that rain falling down.
I think a tropical vacation this year,
Might be the answer to this hillbilly fear.

    Voila! an american dream.
Yeah, we can travel, girl, without any means.
When its as easy as closing your eyes
And dream jamaica is a big neon sign.

Just think jamaican in the moonlight.

    EDIT TO ADD:

If you stay in ATL, ask the concierge to get you a list
of rooming houses. Those places have the best food
in the state; and, it's relatively cheap.

    Congratulations!!

I was lucky enough to be treated to a round at the '08 Masters. We stayed in Charleston, South Carolina and took the hour trip to Augusta the next morning.

They gave me a pass to the Double Eagle club across the street, good place to get some food and have a few drinks.

I spent an hour early in the morning at the driving range and practice green getting up close to the stars.

I also spent a lot of time at the green on the 8th hold I believe. I stood by the ropes that opened after the players finished to let them get to the next tee. Another great place to get within a couple of feet of the golfers..

Also spent a lot of time at the 16th. Par 3, stood in the back row and had a good view of that hole. The players walked right by me, and I was in the front row of the 17th tee bed to watch them tee off. It was a great time, I'd go again in an instant.

I am originally from Augusta. I have a very good friend that gets badges every year, usually for the entire weekend. A lot of people sell their badges but don't get caught selling them for more that they cost. If you get caught you will never get them again.

    Congratulations Mike!

I was stationed for 3 yrs at Ft Gordon - Augusta and that time of the year is jumping!

Rooms? I think ya better start looking Now!

People actually rent out their homes to the network for the week near the course.

I usually went out of town that week since the traffic is hard to handle.

Wish I could help more - hope you have a great time. The Army gets ticks for the practice round but I was never that ambitious to handle the crowds - did watch the final round on TV tho.

    Good luck!

was out this last week for the LPGA on behalf of US BANK and caddied for this 19 year old female golfer that was knocking the crap out of the ball straight down the fairways all day. 5'2 and full of power (M.J. Hur was her name i believe). Was a pretty cool thing to do.

What kind of frikkin' car were you driving?!?!?....that trip is almost 200 miles!!!

By the way, congrats Mike. I have had my application in for the last few years, but have not been lucky as of yet to get tickets myself!!! I have been a few times on other peoples tickets and can say that this is one sporting event I could go to every day and every year and still enjoy it just as much each time!
