CBH question regarding 1827 flat and curl base 2 pricing.

I would like to know why there is not much of a price difference between the flat base 2 and the curl base 2 varieties of the 1827 half dollar, given the great difference of their Pop reports.

I have an old 2007 PCGS Pop report and I think it has numbers around 1000 for the flat base 2 and only 55 for the curl base 2, yet hardly any price differenceimage

The two (?) CB2 CBH varieties have an R2 and R4 rarity.
R4 would achieve a slight premium over the R2, but not much.
The fact that there are 49 varieties also scuttles the chances of a price increase for such a variation in number form.

On the other hand there is supply and demand for this type-variety.
Apparently there doesn't seem to be much demand for a CB2 at this point, despite only 4% of all 1827 varieties having the CB2 date type!
  • At auction, the CB2's usually sell for way more than the SQB 2's as long as the coin is nice. Mike King's AU 58 PCGS O-146 (R2) sold for over 2K, where a PCGS 58 SQB2's right now may sell for less than 700. My NGC 48 CB2 cost me nearly 1K, where similar SQB2's go for less than 600.

The price book is just a little bit off...
