Long term proof set storage

I have been purchasing proof set for the past several months and I have noticed something. The older box sets, 1955 and earlier, the mint packaging is turning yellow. But the flat packs, 1955 and later are not changing color. Should I remove the box sets from their packaging and house in saftey flips or some other holder, or leave then in their original packaging?

Thank you,

Jim O'C.

Leave them alone, but store them in a cool dry place. Try not to move the plastic much in the older sets as it can crack.

There is a premium for oriignal boxed sets now, and I think it will only increase. ONce yo take the coins out, you've lost the oriignal mint packaging forever.

Original packaging is always going to retain the most value unless you have some real stunners there, then I would suggest you submit for grading.

Perhaps look into how you're currently storing them? Location? What's the humidity in your house like>

Removing the from the OGP drastically reduces their resale value- don't do it unless your are sending them in to a top tier TPG for gem quality MS grading.

Tough to have them grade MS.

Place them in a Tupperware type container along with a desiccant.
