Poppage on August Special, Highlights

49 card sub that logged in on the 20th and popped today. I was pleased with the Griffey and I think I'm pleased that the Dorsett Rookie got a 9 (OC) instead of a 7 or 8 judging by a few past sales. The Ozzie should have been an 8. The '78 Ken Anderson should have been a pop 1 10. I really thought I would get a few 10's out of the '80's Topps Football I submitted. Overall I got 4 10's, 28 9's, 8 8's, 1 7, and a few others not seen here that some goofball sent in when I wasn't looking, lol.

The fact that you got 3 of your 10's on 1979 Topps amazes me. I have yet to receive a 10 on any 79 Topps card. I think I have received about three 8's and twenty 9's.

Very nice sub, good eye. It would have been nice to get a few more 10's but in general i think you did pretty good.

yeah, it seemed that the '79's had a funny tilt with the pennant at the bottom too. Are they all like that?

I only send in the ones I think have a shot at 10 unless it's a star card like the Dorsett or Ozzie that may do better graded. I don't use a loupe and I got a couple of 5's. I'm assuming I missed some sort of stain or something. The thing about subbing low pop commons from late '70's and early 80's cards is that if you don't get 10's then you are screwed, lol. But, if you get 10's then it turns a worthless card into a $15-20 card or a lot more. There is a '79 Jim Rice PSA 9 on ebay right now that is at $30 with 5 days left. Any of the other ones got any potential like that? Also, what should the Dorsett 9(oc) bring?

I think '79's can be tough and three PSA 10's is pretty good.
