Just got silver in change from the local PO

I didn't realize until I got home, and checked my change, that I received an AU 1964-D Quarter in change from the Post Office; nice looking coin! image
I'm thinking of going back there, but I don't have anything else to send, so maybe someone else will get some silver!

I also haven't found/received a silver coin in change for almost 5 years, so this is a real treat!!!

P.S. if you want to check for yourself, it's one of the Post Offices in Tucson, AZ image

  • Sweet Find!

I'm friends with the clerks & Postmaster at the local PO Here. Asked them to keep an eye out for me. I was in there the other day speaking with the PM and after the customer left she showed me what the customer paid with, A silver Wash. Guess what, She pocketed it. Told me she has got 3 pieces of silver since I asked them to save em image.
    Its all relative

WoW! I got a 1963 dime last year after a 25 year hiatus on my last one - also a dime.

Last silver I got was a Merc dime. War nickels every now and again. I did get a new red 1958-d cent in change a while back. Nice even toning, probably would grade 64RD or 65RB.

Found a 64-D quarter also in AU last week at a coin counting machine last week. Nice score!

My wife just called to tell me she found a 1936 quarter in her wallet.
No mint mark and in poor condition, but she was so happy!
She also checked the Red Book to see how much is worth...she gave up in a little bit, too many numbers, but at least she understood that she had to check in the line with no mint mark.

I am happy she is trying to be part of my new hobby...

She even suggested to dip it in acetone! image

  • A few months ago my wife came home with a 1949 Quarter in Fine. She said "it just sounded funny so I looked at it." You could have knocked me over with a feather. not because she found a Silver coin, but because she NOTICED! I fell in love all over again.

Cool find...Never have gotten one that I can really remember...but then again, I charge most everything and hardly ever carry cash so I don't get much change!

Not that surprising considering they have been known to have delivered mail older than that quarter.

I've also found some silver small change in circulation recently. Me thinks that people are diving into long forgotten coin stashes (drawers, coffee cans, etc) and simply dumping old coins for cash because times are tight!
