Semi OT: Beat this!

I hope my title doesn't make me sound like a arrogant punk. I am just excited about what I just did.

After I got done mowing the yard, I decided to shoot a few baskets before supper. I just hit 95 out of 100 free throws. That is my 3rd best ever.

I am 34 yrs old, so I don't move like I used to on the basketball court, but my shot really hasn't changed. Growing up, I used to shoot free throws and keep up with how many I could hit. I did it so much that I became an 85% ft shooter in high school games. Anyway, my record (when I was about 20 years old) is 98 out of 100 (67 in a row). I hit 96 one other time. I can hit 90 pretty much every time, but hitting 95 is rather difficult.

Anyway, I was just excited about 95 out of 100 (45 in a row), so I had to share. Thanks for reading about my bragging on myself! image

Nice job. Some days it just comes together. About the time I was your age I had similar success at the free throw line. I think I may have hit 51 in a row that day and about 95 out of 100. I believe before that day the best I had done was about 30 or 35 in a row. 7 years later I don't think I have it in me. Lucky to hit 80% these days.

I remember Mike posted an article about him hitting like 20 of 25 3s at a Mavs game in a contest.

Mike Navarro? We've mentioned basketball in a PM, I think. I said that if I was ever in Texas, for me to drop by and we could have a shoot out. I have hit 75 out of 100 three pointers before, but it was behind the high school/college line and it wasn't in front of an NBA crowd.

Congrats Shane! That's some serious shooting!

Not to hijack your thread but my team won a 3/3 (with one bench player) double elimination tournament on Friday night at work. If you could have seen the players that showed up and had some serious game you would have thought we would have had no chance. We ended up going 4-1 and I contributed four 3 pointers. The amazing thing is I am 44 with a bad knee and my buddy is 46. We schooled those young kids! It's all about teamwork! It's the first time I have ever been on a team that won everything. It's not the World Series, but I'll take it!

I can hit the RIM on 95 out of 100 free throws. But ask me to play tight defense or rebound and I'm your man!

    Wow man that's pretty impressive.

Do you have to get your own rebounds too? If so that's even more impressive.

I did on some of them. My 8 year old son was finishing up some things in the yard and he rebounded about half of them.

Nice going frankhardy, and yep, when you come down to Texas we'll go shoot some hoops so bring some spare change please and since Allen brought it up image

My 1995 Mike Navarro NBA All Star fanfest rookie card autographed 1 of 1 and my press clipping that makes it look like I hit 11 of 12, when it was actually 11 of 15. Great times!!

    That's very cool, Mike.

Do you still have the uniform? And if so, can you still fit in it?

Why don't the New York Knicks sign you? Really! image

Mike, that a sweet autographed card and love the story. If you still got your uniform, we can cut it up and make jersey cards for everybody image

    Great stuff guys...

    Thanks Stown,

I no longer have the uniform unfortunately. My wife shrunk it badly in the wash image (actually, I put on about 23 lbs since then, was 43 lbs. but I've lost 20 of them back this year, at least I'm moving in the right direction now) I had to break my Coke (cola) habit of about 6-8 per day. Now, I may have two the entire week. Doing much better.
