Strategy help?

I am puzzled as to the buyer's strategy entailed in the following:
Buyer purchases a card for, say, $10. Buyer receives the card, and immediately files a SNAD w/Paypal. (No communication at all direct w/Seller.)
The reason for the SNAD: cracked PSA case. Buyer wants a $4.50 refund, "so I can send it in for reslabbing."
Seller told him to go to hell (figuratively), refunded the entire $10, and asked for the card back. Reason for this decision: Buyer made no attempt to contact the seller to work out the "issue."
How is this likely to turn out?
(Strange side note: both parties have well over one thousand, 100%-positive FBs!)
