PMG certed paper money comparison?

How is it ranked compared to the other two major grading companies?
Does it get any respect compared to PCGS or CGA?
can I please have a general low down on certified money?

Thanks much

  • What little I know of Paper money, I would rank PMG higher than CGA. I'd say PCGS is best, and that's not the koolaid talking.

There's a Paper Money forum, by the way.

Without any disrespect to any of the people who may own or grade at one of the currency TPG services, the the consensus from the currency dealers is that PMG is the most respected and tightest currency grading service. PCGS Currency is regarded as being very respectable while all others are not taken seriously.

I think PMG is the best grader of paper currency
  • I tend to agree. IMHO PMG is tighter on grading than PCGS. This is not a slap on PCGS (I like PCGS). While PCGS has graded a 70 on some notes, to my knowledge, PMG has not seen fit to assign a grade of 70 to a paper note.....yet.

I like PCGS first PMG second and a distant third CGA

I crossed a PMG 58 to a PCGS 58 and had a CGA 63 go to a PCGS 58. I realize these are only 2 data points. Both were large notes. But it does kind of concur with what I see. PCGS and PMG pretty much equal with CGA a distant 3rd

The only reason I crossed them however was just because I had to use up my certificates from PCGS and had nothing else worthy of submittting
  • PCGS is the only company with published grading standards. I feel PCGS is tigher when assigning grades. I've had AU PCGS notes go up to 64s at PMG. I also have a couple of notes in PMG AU 50 holders that if cut out you would call VF.
