Is this a new edge error?

I have found a 2009D Native American Dollar without a gap between the date and the mint mark. Has this been reported? Is it common?

It is an error but not recognized by PCGS that I am aware of.

PCGS will not recognize nor attribute edge lettering errors that are the direct result of damage to the coins edge either through PMD or during the edge lettering process where the coin jams which can cause gouging and the shifting of lettering.

Is this a new edge error?
