Name 3 quality Ebay coin dealers.

We keep hearing about shady Ebay transactions on this forum. Last I checked, Ebay does not sell coins. Individual sellers do. Some are great, some are good, some are ok and some should be avoided. As the value of feedback ratings is questionable, we need to rely on word of keyboard.

How about it then, who are your recommendations?

There is one dealer that I have bought from 4 or 5 times in the past 10 years and I usually check to see what he has ending on Sunday evenings. Ebay ID: Greattoning

I am sure there are other great sellers, but he is the only one I recognize.

I bought these two items from him that I just happen to have images of:

NEN, Pioneer-num, jkcoins, wscoins. That's four, but never mind.

I have had excellent results with these, please keep in mind 99% of my purchases on the 'bay are slabbed by either PCGS or NGC and I don't bid on coins that don't have good images. There was a dealer with a coin I was seriously interested in last week that went for a couple of hundred, probably $150 less than I would have paid. I sent a very nice email asking if they had any better images the day after they listed it and never even got a response back. I don't bid on those kinds of auctions, so I tend not to have problems.
  • Erscoin is a personal favorite. Randy is a class veteran dealer. One of the first dealers I bought from on Ebay.

#1 is the best, #2 is the second best and #3 is the third best.

    Any other questions?
  • Ditto on Greattoning. T-W-G (Tom Gibson) and 1dragons (Joe Kaminski)---all stellar coin sellers.

  • DM Rare Coins, I know him fairly well and he's a great person to work with. He sells a lot of high end material.

I have had good luck with DM Rare coins and J. Kaminski. Both have high quality items and are priced fairly. Douglas is willing to negotiate too.

Good timing -- I was going to start a thread today anyway to recognize drrarecoins. He listed a nice three-piece set of medals in their original holder with a 99c start and free shipping. I was the winner at a whopping $3.51, and for that price I figured that the set would "suddenly" become "lost". In fact, he honored the sale, and he even shipped it via Priority Mail. The postage alone cost him more than the final bid, even ignoring eBay and PayPal fees.

That's someone who honors his promises.
