1955 BOWMAN BASEBALL PROJECT...ANY THOUGHTS ??

Hi all...been outta work for so long am going a bit stir crazy, so thought that since i did not do any baseball sets or at least graded ones i wouldgive it a shot.... was looking at some lower end sets and the 55 bowman baseball set just appeals to me...now, i do love vintage in 7's or better and most of my collection i have bought in past has been that grade or so, but i thought of course that the 6's would be the most affordable to try to do this set in.... don't think i will resell unless i need any type of these funds in retirement years perhaps... any thoughts on if there is any demand for 6's which i can do a lot faster than higher graded ones ?? do most vintage collectors looking for these cards just pass and go for the higher ones?? any help would be so appreciated.. thanks for your time and input, ivan
always looking for 1969 graded basketball

  • Wow I must be doing something wrong in life. I have a full time job and can't afford that set. You are out of work and wanting to do it. I need to know the secret. But that sure is a nice set. It has always been one of my favorites. Good luck
  • Hello Jivan.
I have been working on this set for awhile and have it about 60% completed.
I chose this set because my dad collected it when he was a kid, and the 54 and 55 Topps sets are way out of my price range.
I have a few PSA fives, a few sixes, a few eights, and the large majority are 7s.
Low number common psa 7s usually go for $11-16, high number 7s about $16-25.
These are rough estimates. Centering plays a major factor in prices of course.
Another thing I've noticed (probably true with all sets) Resubs tend to bring higher bids whether or not they have received the .5 bump.
You can find some very nice sixes at affordable prices.
Good luck with your set and remember- 01 wilhelm , 10 rizzuto, and 320 susce are very hard to find well centered!
  • I've subbed a bunch of these lately, and they drive me crazy. Honestly that border is so sensitive to showing chipping, that a PSA 6 and an 8 are about as close together as any set out there. I've got about 1/2 of the set raw, and I have subbed the star cards, but doing it in a 7 wouldn't be too bad.
The best pitch to start a hitter off with is always strike one.
