I have bought alot of stuff there. Never had any problem's .Just for thoughts Sportlots is just a brokerage
company that host's for several dealers so with that comes a risk. It is just like buying on Ebay
its a chance the card is as described.

I have had great results with sportslots. Mostly when trying to finish modren sets from 2000 to present. Usually can get commons for .18 per card.

As a buyer, I've used it many times. Sportlots has set pricing for shipping, so if you don't mind your cards being shipped in PWE's, then you should be fine. I've completed many sets through them and have never had any major problems.

As a seller, I've sold through the site as well, but for the amount of stuff I sold, the fees weren't worth it. The less you sell, the higher the % of sales they take.

I've bought many cards from sellers through Sportlots to fill 1975-1978 baseball sets. It's been hit or miss for me as far a getting cards as advertised. On average, the cards I've purchased were overgraded by about 1-2 grades. About half the time, the cards were mailed in a plain white envelope, but they arrived safely, fortunately. I would use them again if I was building mid-grade (EX to EX-MT) late 70's baseball sets.
  • It's a good site for finishing modern sets when you are down to the last few cards needed. I have not had any problems.

  • Great for modern cards. My experience with older cards has been hit or miss.

I've bought many cards from them. Very few problems, and they were almost always resolved very quickly. Just got a package of 101 cards from one of their sellers today--it was great. Have another big order on the way. It's great for filling holes in sets or player collections, and you can usually find better bargains than eBay--especially on the shipping costs. I usually start a search for a set or player, and look to find one seller that has many cards I want--then filter my search to just look at that one seller's inventory to complete one big order. Many sellers offer discounts when you buy more cards from that one seller. Several of my orders have had multiple buying discounts that completely negate the shipping costs, and then even more off the price of the cards.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

I find the website a little annoying to navigate if you're buying more than a couple of cards, but have had several good transactions. Only downside is when cards listed are not actually in "inventory" and you have to be refunded.

I have only recently started using sportlots.

BUYING: Bought over 100 Peyton Manning cards for .18 each. All were as advertised, although when you get into more sensitive condition issues, I can see grading being more subjective. You can request premium shipping usually, which will run you around $2.00

SELLING: A pain to list, but you can actually sell cards you will NEVER sell on ebay or anywhere else for that matter and it costs nothing to list. So why not. Yes, the fees are high unless you sell over $25 a month, but since you are selling cards you would otherwise end up throwing out, why not. Plus check out the prices in the auction area, some very non-ebayable cards going for a nice amount compared to market price.

Advantages: No Paypal BS as a seller. A better feedback system IMO is a plus.

Disadvantages: The site can be a little difficult, especially if you are trying to save shipping by buying from just one seller.

Overall: A nice niche site for set builders and player collectors.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
