I've started to charge for S&H again.

I went with Ebay's Free Shipping push for a while and decided to start for shipping again. Free shipping didn't really do much for my sales or prices realized. I only charge $2.50 for a bubble envelope and Delivery Confirmation.

In the end I think people still bid whatever price they feel is fair and the S&H for most part doesn't matter unless it's over $4 bucks.

I agree 100% - I've tried the free shipping and $2.50 shipping and found it does not make much of a difference - besides me being out the shipping fee.

Hopefully more sellers will catch on and stop feeding the ebay FVF machine. Also I've had a few buyers ask for free insurance as well, which was when I started to re-think this whole free shipping strategy. I package well and ship quickly. There is value in that compared to other sellers that use cheap packaging and take forever.

  • I can't see the benefit/point to offering free shipping for sports cards. I send mine in a penny sleeve and card saver, sandwiched between two pcs. of cardboard, and in a padded mailer. If I buy a card at anything over $10, I'm not gonna want to see it show up in a PWE. I charge $2.75 (first class mail w/ dc). Postage is usually about $2.40, so I don't think 30 cents is much to ask for shipping a customers cards well protected. I also haven't had any complaints yet, and the feedback I receive almost always says something like "safe shipping" or "well protected," so I don't think my customers are unhappy about having to pay for shipping either, if their cards are showing up well protected.
