I would like to know if a fellow forum member was so fortunate to have acquired the following Capped Bust Half Dollar coin in tonight's Teletrade Judy Collection coin auction. In my opinion it is one of the prettiest CBH's that I've ever laid my eyes on... image

    Stuart,

Indeed, the 1824/4 was one of the beauties in this collection, but what I want to know is, who won this amazingly rare and gorgeous 1807 Small Stars PCGS AU58

    Stuart,

I had plans of bidding on the 1824/4 but the bid rocketed to the moon and I wasn't able to place a competitive bid image

All of the over dates in AU-58 went far higher then

I anticipated. I had intended to pick up at least 3

halves, but got blown away on the other two, 24/4

    and the 29/7.

I wonder if those halves really sold, or if there were ridiculous reserves involved? That 1824/4 half did look nice though.

The 1824/4 AU58 Bust Half Dollar is listed by PCGS for $1,500 retail. This Queller coin certainly is a beauty, but the reserve was not met. The reserve was more than $3,680 including the buyer's fee.

The 1829/7 did sell, as well as the 1807 sm stars in AU 58.

The 1824/4, as nice as it was, did not sell.

I believe the 1807 is worth well over 10,000 in this grade. The 1829/7 better be at least MS 62 to command the price realized.

What amazes me is that Teletrade can get these high bids on an on-line sale, without any viewing by the bidders in hand.

You didn't miss much, hardly any sold. They will likely be back on Teletrade in a week or two, hopefully with more realistic reserves.

The 1807 Small Stars PCGS AU58 was won for $11,500 without the juice!!!

Wish I had the funds to have won that beauty image

If I submitted that 1824/4 Half, I'm fairly certain I'd get it back in an AU53 holder.
