I will not be able to complete that purchase...

His reply was "Hi.........wrong seller!".
I apologized and told him that I'd call eBay to find out what happened.
Got a feeling this auction may end before eBay gets the chance to "poof" it!
What an idiot!
Thanks to all that have taken the time to report this piece of garbage.

<< <i>So if this doesnt get canceled by ebay will it show up on the VCP as a real sale? >>
///////////////////////////////
If it doesn't get cancelled, I'll rip a '52 Mantle in half and post the pics of me doing it!
Talk about an expensive RIP!
PoppaJ
Should be poofed by tomorrow.
<< <i>I used the "ASK A QUESTION" on the scumbags auction page to ask if he'd sell me the card using a BIN. >>
Did you do that through the eBay ask a question link or the email address that is in the image file on the auction page?
I looked up the user and this id financlbanker111 has been a Member since: Jun-15-08. Maybe a hacked account?

Here's his reply to the above ....
"HI..........tHIS MY SIGHT BUT THE CARD IS NOT MINE.........YES PLEASE CONTACT EBAY..I AM A NEW SELLER.
THANK YOU
MICHAEL"
I told him to send me a photo of himself so I could see if he was as stupid-looking as he is!

Yes, I used the "ask a question" from financlbanker111's ebay page that contained auction #220467585543.
His description with special provisions about not contacting him through eBay's message system leads me to believe that he's not as new as he seems.

There are, of course, legit ways to use "arbitrage sales" on EBAY.
We mostly call it "flipping," here.
Lots of less than legit schemes also involve listing cards YOU DON'T
have, making the "sale," and then contacting the actual owner of
the card with your offer. If he sells to you, you complete YOUR sale.
If the owner refuses to sell to you, you simply cancel YOUR sale.

Another one bites the dust!
Thanks again for all that helped
PoppaJ
Good action by the folks that did it.

<< <i>I got the same answer and I too went through the Ebay system.
Good job guys.

sorry

As Albert Einstein once said .... "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

I appreciate the kind words.
Seems as of late, these types of eBay scumbags are running amok.
Props to eBay for acting quickly on this one!
Take care,
PoppaJ
What's interesting, is this comes well after the listing is gone and the seller NARU'ed.
Rodney
Sounds like you received a "generic" response from one of the eBots

Good job PoppaJ!
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to image and text theft.
I reviewed all the information you sent, but I don't have enough
evidence to show that the seller violated any eBay policies.
Sometimes members allow others to use their images. It's also possible
that the seller got the photo from the same source or from a source we
can't verify. In either case, we can't remove the listing.
The only way we can take action in a case like this is if the person who
owns the image or text writes to us directly.
If you feel strongly about this issue, I recommend that you contact the
content owner and suggest that he or she contact us. Once we hear from
the owner, we can respond appropriately.
It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.
Sincerely,
Jackie L.

Not enough evidence? How about trying to sell a card that someone already listed days before you did. I guess the 1st guy stole the 2nd guys' photo before the 2nd guy listed his item!
Image and text theft? Have they NO CLUE? Every member of these boards can see right through this kind of crap!
It sounds like eBay could use a few Trained Specialists/Advisors instead of outsourcing their Trust & Safety issues to people in La-La Land!
What a joke!
I often ask myself why I take the time to get involved in the first place. I can easily laugh and shake my head in disgust and browse on. I guess it comes down to caring about the welfare of others ..... with busting a dirtbag as a close 2nd.
Oh well, there are and will be others.
