Ebay Bucks...this is awesome.....

I just looked and saw I have $363.00 in ebay bucks with time togo...I'm pretty happy about this, that means a 500.00 card ( max you can get in a 3 month period) is going to be free.

Thanks to the board members who pointed this program out, It's a huge discount when you goto buy that big card!!

gotta love it!

  • when you goto my ebay you will see a link on the left side for ebay bucks..you sign up and everything you buy over a 3 month period earns you 2% back. so if you buy 1000.00 in stuff you get 20.00

when the 3 month period ends you use the bucks to pay for a purchase, so lets say you earned 100.00 in bucks, you then get to pay for a card and get the 100.00 off, ebay pays the seller the 100.00

    WOW! Thanks for the info!

Do you get only ONE three month period? Or can you get up to $500.00 every three months (Not that I am in a position to get that now, but good to know for future use)

It appears to be a nice program . My ebay bucks number is a bit more modest , at $14.87 , so far. I just started a few weeks ago.

That might get a card or a portion towards a card.

    Hopefully it will continue----- Sonny

I've gotten invites from eBay, only for them to tell me it was a mistake and that I didn't qualify. I'm too low budget to get into the program!

eBay claims participants in the Beta Test for the program are completely random. What I've seen is that only high volume buyers have been granted access. If you'd like to see if you qualify:

    Check for eligibility.

    edited to add:

To me, it's as simple as eBay passing along a small portion of the final value fees associated with a purchase to the buyer. It is more lucrative to admit people who trend towards high dollar purchases.

A seller can list something for X number of dollars all day long, but unless that buyer comes along and makes the purchase, the powers that be can't pad the banking account. That's why it's more lucrative to market the program to big spenders.

    Sounds like a good deal.

Sonny, every dollar counts, this way you can bid a lil more for an item that you really want.

Yep, I also used it for the first one month period and now using it for the current 3-month period. Only $17.99 so far, but like someone previously said, you can use it along with some Bing savings to get more bang for your buck.

I'm signed up but just don't spend enough

Raw or unopened on Ebay isn't too trustworthy

and I don't really go for hi dollar graded

    Great program though!

    In.

    Thank you.

However, my total purchases will probably be less than $363 let alone my 2%. image

Do you have to use BIN?

    Thanks, Felicia
I just signed up and answered my own question - seems that regular auction format items qualify as well

    Seems really good
Heres a tutorial that explains it really well

And to an earlier post on the "catch", it appears there is none - probably just an effort by Ebay to encourage more sales.

There's not a catch. It's eBay's loyalty program. Many e-tailers have such a program. CVS has their ExtraCare program (2% rebates) and Drugstore.com has their Drugstore Dollars program (5%). Each program is free an is designed to incent repeat purchases.

I've been doing it for several months spent my first accumulation last month. Love the freebies!

Who knows how they extended the offer to people. On my buying account, I am not eligible, but my selling account (which I haven't even used in several months) received the invite.

I've been on Ebay now for over 10 years and never once have I been invited to join or sent a coupon.

I once emailed them and asked why not. They replied that it is always random. You would think that in 10 years I would hit the random list at least once.

i wish there was a better alternative to Ebay...maybe one day.

Looks like they now have VIP ebay bucks. "VIP members were randomly selected from a group of eBay Bucks participants who earned at least $25 from April 1, 2009 through June 30, 2009."

I'm as low budget as it gets and I have been in the program for about 6 months. $1.07 earned last time period.

I can't find a link on my account page, so I guess I'm not eligible. Eleven year member here as well. I guess the ~$30k/year in transactions I did a few years back wasn't sufficient to get an offer. I'll go set up a new account to get the offer. Just like the cable companies. Hose the existing customers and give all the freebies to the new ones.

Last quarter, under the VIP program, the only incentive I saw was a 2 week period in September where they doubled the ebay bucks from 2% to 4%. I maxed out for the quarter and they renewed my status for another 12 months in the program. So it looks like it'll be around for awhile.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all "right-thinking" people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”

    I think they did that for everyone....unless I am a VIP which I don't think I am....but who knows.
