I just spent an enjoyable hour in my Overstuffed Chair, just scratching the surface of the Holmes Co

As I write these words, gentle readers, life at the Longacre Estate is good. The kids went to bed early, and much to my surprise, Mrs. Longacre allowed me to watch the Golf Channel on the big TV so I could get caught up on the analysis of today's round at the PGA Championship. At the same time, I was nestled in my Overstuffed Chair, and started to peruse the Dan Holmes Collection of Early Date Large Cents. Needless to say, I was in a frenzy of utmost frothiness as I looked through the catalog.

Page after page there are excessively rare early coppers, many of which have been off the market, not for a month or two (which is considered fresh for any other series in today's market), but for literally decades. Even after spending over an hour looking at the catalog, I just scratched the surface and only got part way through the 1794's.

Longacre, you and I just lived a parallel Day today.
I too was catching up on my PGA Golf, while also just browsing, for an hour, at the Holmes catalog.

I'm happy to say that I was only able to make it through lot 60 in that entire time, and to EAC collectors I was probably flying through looking at those coins!

I hope you have gotten through a little more of the catalog now.

The auction is next week ;-)
