After getting my curiosity up from your post as to what the magazine is, I ended up buying issue #1 on eBay. I noticed it had an article on Type Collecting. I got it in the mail today. Thanks for the tip!

The same seller had a complete run (37 issues?) for $99...

I was a long time subscriber and have the complete run. A great magazine that I would encourage anyone who likes vintage baseball to check out for themselves.

I am only sorry that they stopped making new issues.
Looking to trade for, or purchase, raw or graded vintage for my baseball sets: 1927 York Caramel, 1951 Bowman, 1957 Topps, 1967-1979.

Was a good magazine. I can't remember exactly the details of what happened, but they just stopped publishing them.

Along these lines, I suggest Old Cardboard to anyone. Great publication, great articles. The Hardemans do a great job and are really nice people to boot.

VCBC was a great magazine. Old Cardboard, IMHO, is even better. Can't go wrong with either for top notch vintage reading.

Dennis Purdy sold it to Don Bentz (or Betz, not sure) who proceeded to publish erratically, with issues often taking months to come out. Finally he stopped altogether, but never made good on the unused subscriptions. He really drove a great magazine right into the ground.

Agreed on the Hardemans, 2 really good guys.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the background - I had forgotten. I called at one point and he/they returned my money for the portion of my subscription that (they apparently knew) would never be published.
