Another ridiculous Hank Aaron price

I was bidding on this one but gave up when I realized the price was going to be way too much. The last PSA 7 of this card just sold for $162.50. This one is well centered but scan of back shows that it has at least 2 soft corners.

I never buy cards raw but lately ending prices on eBay have been ridiculous.

Its looks mis-cut along the bottom.

Agree, too much for a raw card off ebay

  • Forgot to add that the seller broke a complete NRMT/MT set of 1960 Topps. I won 4 of them. Three of them I got for $6 or less but probably paid a PSA 7 or 8 price for the 4th one.

How much are you looking to spend?

I just posted some 1960 PSA 7's & 8's to eBay last night... including a Hank Aaron PSA 7!
  • Wasn't looking to buy an Aaron in particular. Was looking for something else and stumbled across his "set break". Looked like a lot of submission worhty cards at normal raw prices with the exception of the Aaron.

The one I thought I paid too much for was actually a 1959 Topps card.

and Hammerin' Hank IS under appreciated (or he was) but in recent years in light of the steroids scandals and juicers his numbers are truly spectacular. He is, in my mind the REAL homerun king. Bonds can suck it. and suck it hard.

That 60 Aaron is tuff for several reasons. L/R centering is always a problem. Tons of print lines too. Then you've got the yellow bleeding issue.

I bought a nice lot of 1960's that had 4 Aarons and none were centered (they all came from same collector who had them since 1960).

I would pay above SMR for a nice centered Aaron in PSA 7 or 8 with no lines or ink run.

Nice card, in spite of the diamond cut. Personally I prefer to buy already PSA graded. I don't see this card in a PSA 8 holder. It could easily be a 6 or 6.5.

It appears to me the top left and bottom right of the white border are larger at those areas. Perhaps someone who knows how to measure can say for sure. It is not really bad but did catch my eye.

Also, there are only 8 of these cards that have graded higher than a PSA 8, so there's good money (up to $2000) in that off chance of an 8.5 or 9. Even 8's sell for $600+. They almost always outsell a comparably graded 1956 for instance.

But that is a strong price for a raw ebay card. It would have to grade at least a 7 to make back that money and even then they may still lose a little.

My 8 looks like crap. OC and print dots galore. I would love to upgraded to one with better eye appeal, but I don't want to spend that kind of money for a visual upgrade right now.

    Here's my "beater" 8:

I would, but I don't want to waste the postage. Plus then I would have to buy some real coasters for my coffee table.
