For 1959 Topps Baseball Experts

I am just curious as to why the majority of PSA 9 1959 baseball cards on ebay seem to come from the same series (I assume numbers 111-506 make up the second series) and are typically in the same number range, say late 300's to early 400's. Was there a find of wax that included mostly cards in this number range? Were they double or triple printed? Your responses would be appreciated.

I have been working on a graded set for many years, and am unaware of any "finds." I can certainly discuss tough cards with you. I am at a little more than 80% complete. There have been two very nice sets (one was a near set) broken up on Ebay in the last month.

It appears to me that there may have been some 5th or 6th series cards stashed away somehere untouched because there are may 9s in that particular group.Thats just my guess.

In the mid '70's I had a friend (Merv Williams, who did all the shows in LA at the time) that had cases upon cases of '59's. They were all 500 count boxes with all cards being from the mid 300's to the mid 400's. Aaron was in that series, and I believe Frank and/or Brooks Robinson. He sold them for $5 a box, and had a seemingly endless supply. He'd gotten them from a dealer in the midwest, and considering he mostly sold current ('70's at the time) stuff they must've been a steal.
Each card was mint. I used to buy a box from him, pull out the 5 or 6 Aaron's, sell them for a buck, and be profitable and holding another 495 cards.
He never had any of the other series, so I have to think there was a major glut of that particular series.
