Possible Group Rip Idea???

I see that BBCE has a factory sealed unopened vending case of 1979 Topps Baseball for $3,600 (before discount, if any). That would make the price $150 per vending box. Even though centering tends to be all over the place with these, it seems like it would be worth the gamble for that price. Do you think there would be enough interest here to buy this as a group rip item? Thoughts?

It certainly seems like there is some interest in this, so I just sent Steve an email to inquire about a possible discount and the applicable shipping charges. I'll post what I find out tomorrow evening and see if we can get 24 slots filled up.

I'd like to participate, but I would like clarification on a certain issue. It appears in many cases there is a Pre-Group-Rip thread which inquires as to interest. Sometimes people answer in these threads that they are interested. I am never clear as to whether these are official responses, or do people have to wait for the official group rip thread to occur?

So, the basic question is -- Does stating interest or an intent to purchase in this thread count as a spot, or do we have to wait for the actual group rip thread?

I was just checking BBCE's web site and it looks like they are adding a lot of nice stuff since the National. I think we could have several nice choices for future group rips.

I used to buy these a lot.
I wouldn't get more than one box b/c if the Ozzie is O/C in one box (as it is likely to be), then it will be O/C in all of the boxes.
That's how they usually run from a single case.
If you put a lot of $ into 79 vending, there's just nothing else in the set other than Ozzie to make up the $.
The only other good card in the 792-card set is Rose and that one's real tough, too.
But one box would be fun to open
