Yes, as long as they are not the same type of set.

An example would be you could put the same Eisenhower Dollar in a Basic Set or a Major Varieties Set and in a Complete Varieties Set but you can't put the same coin in like sets such as in (2) Basic Sets.

You can also put the coins in any other different set such as a Type Set on a Mint Set image

  • Thanks! I'm tired of being in the top ten and not higher on some sets without putting another million dollars into my collection right now while the wife is prego with triplets!

  • I've got a number of my coins holding spots in multiple sets. I'm slowly working on a Morgan dollar set, well aware that it'll be maybe a decade or more before it's done. But, meanwhile, I'm ALSO working on various sub-sets associated with Morgans--the date set, the mint mark set, and a Carson City sub-set. I actually finished a five coin San Francisco early date set and got a free grade out of it. (I sent one of them in for a re-grade, but it came back the same. Argh.) By doing this, you get more free grades and more shots at ranking, and it gives you a chance to feel closer to accomplishment when taking on an otherwise monumental project.

Actually, though I'm working on Morgans, my focus for now is on gold type coins. There's several smaller sets that I'm also working on concurrently because I feel they're a good way to add direction to my collecting, as opposed to just hoarding whatever looks neat. It can be daunting to see so many types and varieties of great coins out there, but having a $5 Liberty mint mark set going gives me incentive to look for something from the Charlotte and Dalonega mints, while my existing plain 1895 (Philadelphia) AU gold $5, originally purchased to fill the 12 coin type set, gives me something else to seek. Granted, maybe I should first work on finishing that type set!
