Wow - my holy grail - 5 yrs! The 25th variation of Take me out....

It means a lot to share this with you guys - I'm privileged.
People might say...
Heck, it's only a piece of sheet music? But, I've been on a trek for 5 yrs - and I've completed the journey!
The amazing thing and ironic - I've picked up 2 tough variations in the past month!!!!
This is it - Sadie Jansell - on the cover - I read where they believe this was the first printing of the 1908 sheet music!
Take me out to the Ball Game - 1908:

Sadie's officially my woman!
Here's a list of the 25 variations I've cataloged over the past 5 yrs - I'm ready to contact the HOF and present it with scans - that will update the 11 they have!
1. Richard & Grover
2. Ida Burt Laurence
3. Wheeler Earl
4. John Marion – Grace Lillian
5. Susie Fisher
6. Nevins & Arnold
7. J. Francis Dooley
8. Henry Fink
9. Trixie Friganza (holding umbrella var.)
10. Trixie Friganza (portrait var.)
11. Sisters Meredith
12. Reynolds & Tucker
13. Sam Williams (standing)
14. Nora Bayes
15. Arna Deck
16. Jack Kloville
17. Sam Williams (sitting)
18. Marion Wilder
19. Harry Fox
20. Netta Vesta
21. Baby Florence Mascotte
22. Billy Sousa
23. Maude Gray
24. Jack Norworth
25. Sadie Jansell
Note that Trixie Friganza and Sam Williams appear twice - different poses.
The 25 are in the order I acquired them over the years.
I'm finishing up my writeup - I got a letter from TS Elliott of SCD - saying they have limited funds for 'free-lance' items plus this is not 'core' stuff for them. First, I didn't say I was a free-lance writer and second - at one time this was exactly the kind of stuff that readers like to see - people collecting esoteric stuff that they're excited about.
As I've said before - the only other copy that's important is the 1927 version of the song since it changed the character of the person in the opening verse from Katie Casey to Nelly Kelly:
Take me out to the Ball Game - 1927:

1908 Version:
Katie Casey was baseball mad,
1927 Version:
Nelly Kelly loved baseball games
And last - again - my favorite companion piece is the original 1908 copy of the song sung by Edward Meeker:

Having a copy with the factory label of the song is a major bonus - I've seen most with missing labels or hand written ones.
Thanx for viewing!

That's so awesome Mike...I've been looking forward to this with you! I can't wait to hear what the HOF has to say!
It will be great to see how the HOF responds.
I know how it feels to wait for years, so I can just imagine how you must feel right now....
Thank you for sharing!
I know you have worked hard on this.
Steve
If you want to publish info about the items, MagCloud is
the best way to go. It is free and your mag can be offered
for sale on their site OR thru your own channels.

That has to be one of the coolest collections I have seen, thank you so much for sharing it with the rest of us. I have seen you chase these over the years, it is satisfying to see you complete the journey.
And an original copy of an Edison record to go with the sheet music is just icing on the cake. That is a pretty cool piece in its own right, one that would stand on its own in any collection.
And your right about SCD, it is items like this, and articles about items like this, that I used to subscribe to read. I can read about the latest and greatest card to come out in many places, but to find information or see pictures of
collectibles like this is what makes collecting fun and informative for me and others. It is too bad SCD lost sight of that.
Again, congrats on completing your collection of sheet music. And thank you so much for taking the time to take us on the journey with you and sharing it all along the way.
Always looking for Chipper Jones cards.
Im a very focused collector of cards from 1909 - 2012...LOL

Yesterday I found a card I've been looking for for 3 years and 2 months, so I know the feeling.

i think its cool to have completed it.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
Hopefully, the powers that be at SCD will change their mind and add an article about your collection in one of their upcoming issues.
Getting the HoF to revise their records would be like icing on the cake...
Thanks for sharing your accomplishment!
Collecting: Topps 1952-79, Bowman 1952-55, OPC 1965-71, and Pre-War White Sox cards
This is very humbling and it makes me feel really good - I know we all like to have our collecting goals validated by the affirmation of others.

Thanx Storm.
<< <i>Very cool! But now what? Finish the 63 Fleer? >>
Thanx for asking. Not yet SP - it's hard to find nicely centered copies and stay on a budget - I'm willing to wait.
<< <i>Congrats..care to share how you got it? >>
Thanx Ironman - all of these were purchased on ebay - including any of companion pieces.
Again - thanx for all the support.
I'll let ya know what/when I get any feedback on my set. I will say, it's kind of esoteric and doesn't have great universal appeal. Even in it's height of popularity, I don't think Beckett would be interested in my quest.

Take me out to the Ball Game...
I'm Happy This Happened To You
I can't tell you too many times how important your kind words and encouragement are to a collector!
As I said - I will keep everyone posted when I hear anything.
Is this a fun hobby or what?!!!!
mike
On a serious note amazing collection but I have a question which you may have already answered. Since most of your collection is uncataloged how do you know you have them all? Is it possible there are more out there?
Unique Chicago Cards
Wrestling Cards
<< <i>Why would we expect SCD to change their mind and start publishing interesting articles again? After all TS knows what the people want!!

Very good question Nathan.
My list of 25 was the combination of 2 webs - including the HOF - and my own findings.
So - I've been working off a list of 25.
I - now - watch ebay for any new ones not on my list.
