ALBANY — The Giants are poised to make quarterback Eli Manning the highest-paid player in the National Football League, agreeing to a six-year contract extension worth $97.5 million, $35 million of it guaranteed, according to a person involved in the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because no official announcement had been made.

He played very good in that playoff run but has not been able to will his team to win like a Manning, Brady, Montana etc. has. Last year Manning basically had to play out of his mind to keep the Colts in the playoffs. Eli has never played 1/2 as good as Peyton did last year.
