Urban Meyer now highest paid coach in SEC with 6 year $24 million deal

GAINESVILLE — Florida football coach Urban Meyer has agreed to a deal that will make him the first $4 million a year coach in the Southeastern Conference — if only for a few moments — and extend the life of his agreement through the next six years, Florida Today has learned.
UF athletic director Jeremy Foley said: "Coach Meyer has certainly proven to be one of the top college football coaches in the country and should be compensated as such. We are proud he is our coach and we appreciate all that he has done for the Gators."

Meyer expressed his appreciation in a statement.

"I continue to be very thankful and appreciative for everything the University of Florida and the Athletic program has done for me and my family. Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and the community make this a special place and I'm honored to be a part of it," he said.

He will become the third SEC coach with a deal approaching $4 million per season. He had four years left in his current contract that was worth a little under $3.5 million per year.

Good point. I bet they will still be good. The man has won everywhere he has been.

If you can win in the SEC you deserve it!

He beat Bama in the national championship game last year. All I hope is that we get another shot at him this year.

I hope you are right, ND doesn't need another hit to its reputation by bringing in a coach that has presided over the recruiting of that many either potential or current felons.

Yeah, I would hate to see Notre Dame go to a decent bowl game any time soon. Now that would be awful.

Va Tech is #7 in the USAToday preseason poll

    LSU is #9

    Ole Miss # 10

And if we win those we'll more than likely be in the SEC Championship Game and probably play Florida #1

So, Yes we do play a tough schedule.
