What are proof 1 ounce gold buffalos selling for these days?

A friend in one of my coin clubs has a proof 1 ounce gold buffalo with all the original government packaging that he want to sell me. What would be a fair offer? Thanks.

  • I sold some to a buyer on the BST for $1150 last month, and they were spotted. Unspotted ones would go for $1200 or more.

Thanks. He's asking $1200. Any idea what dealers are paying for these? I'm talking about the larger dealers that make a market in these coins rather than the typical crooked B&M dealers.

i remember buying several of them on ebay for $1050 with 20% cashback last year sometimeimage
  • There is a definite market for proof gold Eagles, much less so for Buffalos. I assume since they are relatively new. CDN greysheet lists them at about 1000-1050, but I doubt you will find any at that price. The 2007 has about 1/10 the mintage of the 2006 but currently priced about the same. I have been putting 2007s away for a while. Anything 2008 in proof or burnished unc is worth much more as the mintages are very low and demand high.

I will let you know next Friday! I plan on taking advantage of the 5 "free" listing/maximum $20.00 FVF tonight on some Gold in a 10 days auction, including a 2006 Buff Proof.
