I believe it is $22.....International Express......or maybe $10 with registering it??? Either way, International is a NIGHTMARE!

    EXPRESS Mail is the only
bulletproof method, if sellers want to be covered by the PP
    "Seller Protection Plan."

The cost to most countries is just under $30, and includes
    the first $100 of insurance.

Sellers not willing to lose their merch to a bogus INR claim
should NEVER ship internationally w/o using EXPRESS Mail.

I don't know about anyone else but selling a $80 dollar card and charging $30 bucks for shipping seems counterproductive to me. How the heck do you make a decent profit? I wouldn't expect the buyer to pay that nor would I as a seller. I would take my chances and send 1st class international assuming he has good feedback.

    All very true.

And, taking a chance usually works fine; except when it doesn't.

    ....

Sadly, all buyers now have "good feedback."

you simply trust the Canadians image

But I understand your frustration. I sell a lot of hockey, so I ship a lot to Canada. I have never had a problem but if an item is a big ticket item (ie: 200+) and I do not know the seller, I bite the bullet on the 28.00 shipping.

The reason I asked was cuz I got burned when RETURNING a card to a Canadian seller that was the wrong card. Bought a '66 Maris OPC card and it ended up being a Topps card. Just returned it regular and seller claimed they never received it. Now I am out the price of the card, the price of shipping, and also don't even have the Topps card!! ...What if I requested a money order instead of Paypal? Can I do thatm and if so, can they still claim non-delivery??

On EBAY, sellers are NOT allowed to "mention" other forms of
    payment.

IF a buyer "requests" that he be allowed to send a paper payment,
the seller is free to oblige.

That sounds like a scam from the start. You should out the seller and post a link to the original auction for us.

Sorry about your Maris OPC deal. That does suck. I can see why you want to have paypal protection.

However, I've mailed well over 500 packages to Canada via USPS first class mail with the customs form attached and I've never had a package get lost in the mail. Maybe I'm just lucky. Most of the cards I've sold fell in the $10-125 range too.

I actually find Canadien buyers to be very honest. Almost more so than buyers from the USA.

Edited to add, I usually charge $3-4 USD for shipping to our neighbors to the North.

    You would think that.

The last 2 items I sent to Canada "never arrived". I just stopped shipping outside the US.

If people want to buy from outside the US I quote the cost to protect myself.

EXACTLY .... now how many packages of the 500 ... would have went up north if your stated shipping was 30 bucks ??? ~ i'm guessing maybe 5 or so .............

in the unlikely event something does run amok ~ i'd like to think a seller is still waaaaaay ahead of the game.
  • i'm wondering ..... of all the stuff that doesn't reach it's destination point regardless of where it's going ........ what percentage of that is actually the fault of the seller .......

ie. the P that looks like a B / the L that looks like an I etc etc
