1979 topps rack box live break tonight at 8 central

I just got home from the National and I am going to take me a nap and then around 8 0'clock central time I will be doing a live box break of 1979 topps baseball purchased from BBCE at the National this week. I will be scanning as I rip so for all of you collectors out there that are having a "pack attack" like me please join me at 8 for what should hopefully be a pretty cool live bust!!!

Did you get the rack box from BBCE? I was at the National too and almost pulled the trigger on 1 of the 2 79 rak boxes he had,.
Just for my information, when you buy a full rak box like that did you get any good stars on the top or bottom? What stars did you get?
    Cant wait for the break!!!!!!!!
  • im curious what stars might be showing as well.

Looking forward to it! I hope you get a lot of sub worthy cards!

Yes I did buy one of the 2 racks boxes that BBCE had at the national and there are a few packs with stars showing. Some of the stars on the fronts and backs include Reggie Jackson, Nolan Ryan Strikeout leaders, Pete Rose Record Breaker, Catfish Hunter, and several others.

Good Luck! Cant wait to start seeing some cards.

Okay guys here is pack # 1.....No real star power here and it looks like centering is going to be all over the place. These are the only ones worth scanning condition wise.

Pack #2 has some star power but the stars all had poor centeringimage

I subbed an Ozzie that was cut just like that, requested NQs, and it came back a PSA 4... lol

thanks for sharing your rip! I'm tuned in! image

Hilarious since it would have been a 9OC which PSA weights it as a 7 on the registry.

Pack #4...The Bonds card is the best looking card so far in the box.....it is a pop 0 in psa 10.....fingers crossed

Maybe you will hit a gem Dale Murphy. He has only 3 psa 10 in 79 Topps
    collecting Dale Murphy and OPC

one would think since it was very sharp (from a group rip last year). I was hoping for a 7, but I was assuming since it was so severely OC, maybe that bumped it further than two points.

  • Good stuff.

pack #7..Nolan Ryan is really sharp OC on the back with a small print dot on the left side of the back. How tough is psa on print dots on the back?

  • I subbed a Ryan from a group very similar to yours but mine also had a tiny stain on the front. Mine still got a straight 9.
  • MrVintageMrVintage Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭
I think i'm gonna save the rest to bust tommorrow. I'll continue to post as I bust. What do you guys think so far? Anything with a shot at a PSA 10?

Every well centered 79 Ryan I've ever seen is pretty OC on the back. Was yours Bill?

    The Ryan is a beauty!

Sorry about the Oz - seems like that's a problem with that card.

The 2nd yr Murray looks pretty good.
