My 1000th Post Contest *Winner Announced*

Ok, technically I am a few post past my 1000th, but as most of you know I have been dealing with the loss of my friend, Carl Willey. And ironically, my 1000th post was my long post about our friendship. I would like to
thank all of you who posted in my thread and for all the kind words and for the nice reviews of my story. I am in the process of working on my website, so with any luck that will be up and running in the next few weeks.
Now on to the contest!
My contest is pretty simple, I just want to know who Carltons' favorite ballplayer was. Since he was one of mine, I asked him one day who his favorite was. The only hint I will give is that the player is a HOF'er.
Here are the rules....I will leave the contest going for a week to give those guys who are at the National a chance, I think it would only be fair that everyone gets a chance. I ask that you only guess ONCE per day during this time.
There are a limited number of HOF'ers, so I thought I would limit the guesses so that more folks can get in if they want. Feel free to guess the same as someone else, because if there is more than one person who have guessed the same player, I will do a tiebreaker.
As I mentioned, my 1000th post was about Carlton, so I thought it would be kinda cool to have some Carlton items be the prize. I am offering up 3 items that I hope someone would like in their collection. The items are a 1962 Topps
Venezuela 174A no cap Carl Willey that is graded PSA 1. It is clean front and back, it actually has nice eye appeal for a PSA 1. Second is a 1964 Topps Tattoo Carl Willey that is graded GAI 8. It is mislabled as a 1971 by the crack team
at GAI, but they will reholder it correctly for free. No, I didn't send it to them, I bought it that way. And finally is a 2003 Paper Talks Magazine that has been personally signed by Carlton. I used to have a ton of these, but over the years
I have given almost all of them away. These were only available here in eastern Maine for a short time. Inside is a nice article about Carltons career and some pictures of him. Carlton signed this for me on one of my many
trips to his house over the years.
So there is the prize offered, I hope who ever wins it will enjoy it like I have. And thank you to all of you who have made my 1000 post here fun and exciting. I have learned so much from all of you and have been on the
receiving end of many kind words and gifts. I hope you all will let me stick around for another 1000 post.
Now let the guessing begin!

Yes, Bobby Doerr was his favorite player. He just liked the way he played and how he conducted himself on and off the field. Even to this day, I think Bobby represents himself and the game with class and respect.
So congrats to Mike! If you would please be so kind as to send me your mailing address, I will get your prize right out to you.
Thanks again to all who played!
Thanks for the contest Steve.
Congrats Mike.
