An interesting EBAYer for your review.

EBAY # 220451831119. A new seller. EBAY ID: jwcoinslv

Paid shortly after the listing closed. Seller responds: "Hello, I am waiting for Paypal to lift the restrictions on my account.I have shipped over $3200 and I am not getting paid so I am not shipping tillI do". Nice huh? Seller had some big items. A new seller. Of course the funds are held until shipping. Now after 10 days No refund, no coins. Getting the money back thru EBAY. Draw your own conclusions.

Is doing what he's doing allowed under the eBay Seller terms?
    When in doubt, don't.

He might be referring to the $500 monthly withdrawal limit on his paypal account because he hasn't had it verified. Also possibility that paypal has frozen his funds until the 21 day limit or positive feedback occur. This happens a lot with new accounts. Of course if he don't ship, you can't give positive feed back. I'd call paypal and discuss it with them.

  • No. It's not allowed. The idea as it was explained was a safe transaction.
I pay. The seller ships. After 30 days or when I post feedback the funds are released.
I have had these holds placed on me when i started selling. I mailed. Got feedback
and got the money. I always had some choice words on the hold but today I take
them back. A charge back was my next up. Whether confused or whatever.....other trans
are not my problem. How would this person be as a buyer? That would certainly be interesting.
This gets him a non selling seller gig. When the credit posts maybe a negative also.
The seller is uninformed of the rules they lay on you. But then again...that is not my
    liability.

If you want the coins, communication with the seller is vital. Seller might just need to have it explained to him. If getting the coins is not a priority, call ebay and cancel the transaction. Seller may even cancel transaction for you if you ask. With all the new buyer protections you will get your coins or you will get your money. I'd save the chargeback option for when you get ripped off and ebay doesn't back you (Credit Card co. is going to stand for only so many chargebacks, plus it's a real hassle). In this case ebay will get your money back to you, but you have to talk to them.

  • Comunication stopped at that point. I advised him to talk with PayPal.
No reply. No responses. Fair price. Would liked to have the coins but
when communication is 1 sided that ends it.

EBAY has said they will refund the money. Once it went 10 days and no
ship / response they said they will refund.

Then call ebay and get your transaction cancelled. Since you paid by credit card you will still see the charge on your bill. Paypal will credit it back to your paypal account. Good luck!

  • Thank you. It will work out. Just a lot of hassle.

This is one reason why a seller needs to have at least two ebay/paypal accounts. Build the second, newer one up with small sales until you get past the "probationary" period. You still have the first account, hopefully with no restrictions, for big ticket sales. I believe it was 100 or more feedbacks as a seller on my second account, before the freeze on funds was lifted.

At some point, if necessary, you will be able to close the first account (hijacked, etc.) and be able to jump right into your secondary account with no delays or hassles in getting paid. Of course at that point it will be time to open a new, second account. In any business it is always good to have a back up for everything.

I'd be happy to call the seller for you if you wanted. I'm in Vegas but I'd think that what
you've done is all that is required/needed. A local calling would do no good. I see that
he does not know that Ebay requires paypal only (unless your set up to take credit cards)
as he's offering personal check. Oh, if you paid by check I bet he'd hold till it cleared too!

Thank you for the offer. That moment is gone. I'll get my money back
and that puts it back even. Paid with a CC. He does not have a clue.

    Have a great weekend. Jean.

Sellers who do this are idiots. All they have to do is ship and provide the tracking info to PayPal. Once it shows delivered, PayPal releases the funds. They do NOT have to wait the 21 days.

Goofy seller! He's getting his training at the expense of frustrating his buyers.

Yup only takes a few days at best, although my buddy had to upload the shipping info from a link on his paypal details page.

Good advice for the eBay account. eBay allows you to have multiple eBay accounts legitimately so long as you have each eBay handle linked to an email address that doesn't already have an eBay account associated with it.

But you are not allowed to have more than one Paypal account per name (real legal first and last name; not talking handles here).

Whaaaa???? You're incorrect nicetoning42107. An individual can have multiple Paypal accounts registered to the same legal name/address. The separate Paypal accounts cannot share a bank account however. I currently have two Paypal accounts, and each has a bank account attached from different banks.

  • What a pain. I've never had PayPal hold up money. I guess I started gradually, had my account verified and played by their rules. Sorry it didn't go more smoothly for you.
