Why did all the Rack Packs with stars SW Sell for so cheap in SCP auction??

Whats the deal? Is the market that dead? Those were selling for 1000's just a year ago!
Examples
1968 Topps 4th series with Maris and Banks front 550.00 2 bids!!
1969 Rack Pack with HANK AARON on the front 439.00!!! WTF
1970 Rack Pack with 2 Hank Aarons showing 439.00
2 other 1970 racks with big stars showing for about 550 each
1973 Rack packs with stars only 350 each
1973 Baseball Full wax box for only 1600.00 BBCEXCHANGEs buy price is 2400.00

And the 1969 BVG MINT 9 Jackson rookie for 1,200.00 is that about right??

Thoughts?

Ok, but even Steve harts buy prices were higher. Was there something wrong with the packs? 500.00 for any 1960s rack is a steal recession or not. Let alone with stars showing.

Maybe Steve might cut us a deal on some 73 wax???

  • I had actually bid on the 73 1st series wax box, I did some research and wasnt 1000% convinced they were 100% legit.
    So I stopped bidding.

I won the 73 rack packs and they were a steal at that price.

I was underbidder on the 73 wax box, the box was not out of line with going prices and was a pretty good deal but not stellar. with the 20% juice it was 2k next bid was steve's buy price and the going rate these days

on the racks ,they looked like crap in my opinion. very iffy, the top edges all looked inconsistent and the curling was all over the place. I would not be surprised if they were tampered with. even the 70 rack had different shades of cards on the back , possible but with all the other red flags , very suspect.
  • I do agree that some of the racks did look suspect, the 73's were the only ones I was comfortable with. The 71's worried me when I saw some of the edges of the cards, on one of the racks the corners looked worn as if the card was put in the rack and resealed.

Felicia, will you be doing a live rip with the the 73 raks? Really enjoy your rips as I hoard my unopened stuff although I have ripped some early 70's wax and rack packs about 7 years ago. John

Revising a 12 year old thread to comment on the thumbnail? Lol. Well at least someone can comment on the cheap prices to start the thread. I don’t collect unopened so. And we just talked about Felicia in another post. Blast from the past.
