with this German 2 Mark! Not to say that some couldn't be replaced. I would replace a couple of the denominations/types that are represented more than once, but for the first time, I have 20 coins that are worthy (by my standards) of being included in the "A box" so to speak.
Still goals to achieve however of course. Subsets...Boxes of 20 for Darkside only...American only...
Just thought I would share this milestone!
Other coins in the set are:
1812 PCGS AU58 Large Cent, S-291, Ex. Norweb
1938-D PCGS MS66 Buffalo Nickel
1872-S PCGS MS67 Half Dime
1940 PCGS MS68FB Mercury Dime
1940-D PCGS MS68FB Mercury Dime
1940-S PCGS MS67 Mercury Dime
1917 NGC MS64 SLQ
1927-D NGC MS64 SLQ
1837 PCGS XF45 Reeded Edge Half
1872 PCGS MS66 Seated Half
1904 PCGS VF35 Barber Half
1883-CC PCGS MS67 Morgan Dollar
1872 PCGS MS66BN Swiss Rappen
1928 PCGS MS66RB Swiss Two Rappen
1881 PCGS MS66 Swiss Five Rappen
1931 PCGS MS68 Swiss Ten Rappen
1903 PCGS MS67 Swiss Half Franc
1916 PCGS MS67 Swiss Five Franc
1874 PCGS MS67 Swiss Shooting Thaler (St. Gallen)
and finally this 1909 NGC MS67 German 2 Mark!

A couple of coins make me very curious:
a) I assume if you have a 1938-D Buffalo nickel in MS66 it must have some spectacular attribute (probably toning) to be in your set, right?
b) Ditto for the VF35 1904 Barber half.
Not trying to be negative here, but poor old Friedrich looks like he’s been eating green jell-o (hope that’s not PVC!).
Thanks for sharing; I’d love to see more pictures!

FC, interesting that you say that...the reverse eagle is one of my absolute favorite renditions! To each his own.
I've never been wild about "dudes" on my coins...but the coin is spectacular.
Cartwheel, The 38-D is nicely toned. The barber half is just how I like them....perfect cameo circ...again, not someone else's box of 20...but meet's my (weird) standards.

Is that Buffalo gold plated? I love the toning on that one.

Yep, me too.

Please don't forget the giveaway! Rule 302b of the box of 20 bylaws specifically states once a box of 20 is completed the giveaway to FullStepJeffs is conducted.
Hint... I'm not greedy... any one of them would turn my hoard into a type set.
Congratulations!
They're nice!

That is truly a beautiful box set.
Congrats.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
Nice choices (and great pics), BTW. The type 1 SLQ is my favorite.

Awesome, simply breathtaking!
Although, imho, that dirty old lowly VF35 Barber doesn't belong in your lofty set and would be better suited in my box of 73

<< <i>the eagle on the reverse appears to have been flattened by a truck.

I've never though of it that way...
Astounding box of 20 by the way, I'd be proud to own these coins.

I agree. I've been looking for one like that for ever.

A guy can dream, can't he???
Thanks...you know that one of those SLQ's or Merc's is ready to come off to be replaced by "the coin that cannot be named"
Dizzy,
Nice try.

I do think a CBH 50 should muscle its way in at some point...
