Coin show in L.A. $150 to get in?

I was at the stacks lot viewing today & overheard some guys talking about a coin show going on tomorrow. This show has a $150 entrance fee & tables were at a cost of $900? Is this true?

The crowd there also could not stop talking about NGE & "who's on the list of creditors"

I imagine that charging a high admission fee is akin to charging high rent. You can usually keep the clientel more upscale and keep out the rifraf.

The dealers may not have been talking about the ANA show since that doesn't start until next week. There is a pre-ANA show that begins tomorrow and runs through the weekend. That show is open to invited dealers only and not open to the public and is being held at an "undisclosed location".

If getting access to fresh deals early and getting first shot is important to you then buying an earlybird badge is money well spent.

Think of it this way...even the $6 admission fee for non ANA members is a bargain for what you will get a chance to see while you're there. Most trade show conventions aren't cheap to attend, as testified to with the "bargain price" for wi-fi at only $99 per day. Compare that to a convention like Comdex in the 1990's...an all access pass to that convention in Las Vegas cost well over $1000 per person.

MR Organic......save your bucks bro. Remember I owe you a Ribeye and a salad in Socal next time. While you and I are not in the same league as the heavy hitters, it is fun to fantasize and play coin dealer in our dreams. These bros are serious.
