Never had this happen... buyer questioning the authenticity of the holder

Sold a coin on eBay this past Sunday, and I shipped it out Monday. They buyer received it today and emailed me saying:
Hi, Recieved the coin today and see the damage to the back label. Had not noticed that probably because i came to the auction listing late and until i went back just now to the listing and see the photo. It troubles me as it obviously was ripped off with intent and took some doing to get it off. Begs the question why and puts the authenticity of the holder in question. Your thoughts? Thanks
I responded:
This happens very frequently as many dealers use stickers on the holders to keep track of prices, inventory codes, as well as their cost. Some stickers do take the hologram off when peeled off of the holder. The holder is authentic, and if you show any dealer, they would agree. I have been dealing for many years, and I unconditionally guarantee the holder's authenticity. If you are a member of the ANA, you can submit the coin to NGC for a reholder for $5. I would even reimburse you the $5 if you do send it in.

Welcome to Ebay!
Hi, Thanks for explaining that Paul, i'll do that. Kind of you to offer the
reinburse but i should have looked at that photo myself and asked before
bidding. I know there are counterfeit holders around and that was my
concern. I'll send it to NGC this week.

You gave a great, reasoned, answer to the question as it was posted. You didn't give any of the tongue lashings that are so frequently mentioned/suggested here.
Kudos to you. You also offered the extra bit for the reholder, when you didn't need to do that. Poor buyer should realize how much it will cost for shipping/return of the coin though....a bit more than $5
Glad the buyer was reasonable and his paranoia, as he is likely someone who isn't as "into" the boards and up to date knowledge, and seeing a ton of slabbed coin.
Good it worked out
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
For the record, I don't think a damaged hologram puts the authenticity of the holder in question.
the holograms do not peel off, I have many like that
and am used to it, but really the holograms
should have been inside the holder
Obviously it is not YOUR fault, and I would not reholder for that reason

.......the question that comes to mind for me, why can't the holograms be INSIDE the slab? wouldn't this solve some problems? any REAL reason this can't be done?

If the holograms were inside the slab, they would have to be attached to the white plastic gasket rather than the shell which defeats the purpose of making the shell difficult to counterfeit.

<< <i>I'll admit, I didn't think it was going to turn out well, but I just got a response from the buyer:

UGH! Will the buyer expect you to pay for the shipping/insuring both ways??

Small world. I bought your 1941 Proof Walker. Guess it should be here maybe tomorrow if you mailed these on Monday. Looking forward to it.

By the way I remember selling a $30 Walker Slabbed on Ebay and the buyer peeled off a sticker and damaged the hologram. He wanted me to refund $25 so that he could get it into another holder. I responded that I would accept the coin returned and pay his shipping both ways. Never heard from him again.

agreed, but why don't dealers just bag the holders , you know the little bag that goes over the slab. then sticker all you want.
i don't care as i crack most of mine out anyway, but thats a nice coin and should stay in the holder.
i could see why he wrote you, but i would buy a coin off you just for the class you have in you response....
