Slabbing contemporary counterfeits

Am sitting here looking at the Naftzger Sale Part Three, drooling like mad (ok, so maybe the Wendy's spicy chicken sammich has something to do with that) and admiring his 1848 Small Date in PCGS AU-55. Stunning coin!

Which happens to be a contemporary counterfeit, that has been known to be a contemporary counterfeit for a long time.

Now, I have no objection to this coin and its two lesser counterparts being slabbed. They are numismatic collectibles.

However, I have a question. Why is my contemporary counterfeit 1896-o Micro O dollar not slabbable? What is the difference?

    Your last name isn't Naftzger.

I was wondering the same thing. In my own collection I have some awesome cont. cfts -- it'd be cool to get them slabbed.

    Maybe the keyword is contemporary.
Your 1896-O micro O Morgan may likely have been made in the mid to late 20th century.

Doesn't have a born-on date on it. Has it been established when they were made? Sure saw a lot of interesting theories.

The so-called 1787 New Haven Fugio cent "restrikes" aren't contemporary counterfeits. They were made from new dies in circa 1860.

That ones more like a 19th century copy. Actually that is what it is.

I wonder if in a hundred years the TPG's will be slabbing early 21st century copies imported from China?image

I wouldn't mind getting my Henning Nickel slabbed. It would be interesting to see what the top grade on these would be.
