Missing Clad Guam Territory Quarter??

mas3387mas3387 Posts: 1,491 ✭✭✭
Just found this while going through another sealed brick of Guam Quarters. I've seen a few State Quarters with one side missing the clad layer and of course the design side of a State Quarter being more desirable. This 2009 Territory Quarter shows both sides. Is it possible to have both sides missing clad? As I said it was found in a sealed bank box so I have no reason to believe it was tampered with. Pictures are of the same coin Obverse / Reverse

It's not missing the outer clad layers on both sides.

It's what's called 'copper wash', or 'mis-annealed planchet'.

Nice find on a scarce Territory coin......

Is this more common than a missing clad layer coin?

    I've never seen one.

    But that means little. image

Unless he's refering to a "sintered" planchet but I thought those were darker?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
