1934-D and 1935-S Cent Uncirculated Rolls are currently $1850 Bid-How much to discount for very nice

How much do you discount for very nice decent uncs but turned mostly browns with a few still nice red browns. Possibly one or two reds as well.

You discount it 50% off the $1850 bid price. More of a discount? Less of a discount?

  • I would discount substantially more than that. This is something that I would not price off of roll bids - because they generally reflect red pricing. There are greysheet bids for these individual coins. The 34D and 35S, in 63RB, are bid at $18 and $15 respectively, which would be about 50% of roll bid. Since the coins that you are asking about are brown, I would not pay near the 63RB bid either. Maybe half of that.

    Hope that this helps.

Greysheet bid reflects "average" rolls, not fullred. Choice, Full-Red rolls go for a premium, sometimes significant, over bid. Now, if the coins are below average, you should discount. By your description the coins are a bit below average, so I'd sell at 10-20% off bid.

Sorry, wrong info for these dates. My reply was for more average date rolls, not these investor rolls, whose pricing is indeed driven by the individual coin values. Listen to abitofthisabitofthat...

At least 50 percent or more. Those will be a hard sell in roll form and take forever sold one by one. I buy tons of more common rolls and they are always priced back of bid for me. Depends on the seller of course and how bad you want them. I do not see many walking into a coin store with a roll like that getting a big pay out from a dealer.

    Interesting thoughts.

    Any consensus on this one?

Any other opinions or somehow a consensus reconciling the different viewpoints expressed here?
