Well I went to the bank today and got 17 Ike Dollars

BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
All I found is one 1971-D Talon Head , dollar.

I do not know if it is worth anything, but it

is a strong Grade A imprint ,on an AU coin.

I don't know if bears and eagles are friendly to one another. Are they?image

I looked for a friendly eagle

but they were all angry. By

the way, I did ask for half dollars

first , but since they had non, I took

    Ike Dollars instead.

You guys are lucky!! The only rolls I can get are anything a quarter and below. image I'm thinking of shopping banks here and there to see what they have for rolls and then getting a savings account at the best one.

I asked what they looked like

    bells, the liberty bells.....

can we all say cha ching!!!!!!

yes he is a young person and they are on hold for me-

I will photo these during the week, you can count on me posting a snide ass comment on collecting SILVER from a bank and ripping them with all intent..

oh of the 7 rolls, 12 coins 57-64- junk, 10 in the 69-71's - junk, the balance is tip money..

The banks I have visited never have rolls of half dollars.

All they have, if at all, are loose amounts of half dollars

that folks cash in. It is really kind of disappointing.

  • A few weeks' ago I was also at the bank (Wachovia) looking for half dollar rolls,
of course they didn't have any, but they had 11 loose Ikes, so I bought them.

One Ike is a proof 73-S, it seems to be have a copper core,
is this a 40% silver clad Ike?

If it has a copper core it is a copper-nickel clad proof.

There's a small BofA branch near my house and they order me a $500 box of halves every week.
I don't make it in every week, but they're always there when I do.
Last week I found $4 in 40% halves... the week before, 2-90% and 4-40%

It's all adding up... The first box I ever ordered, I found about 25 different 90% and about 15 40% halves.

Thank you for the quick reply,
it's a very nice coin in proof nonetheless.

    Bear,
Go back to that 71-D and check out the mint mark for an RPM.
There are now (2) attributable RPM's for the 71-D Ike. They have only
both been "discovered" in the past few months, and seem to be scarce
for the number of coins gone through to find these....besides the fact that
no 71-D RPM Ikes have been authenticated in the past 38 years!
Keep going through those Ikes....you never know what will show up!

    Happy Hunting!
