Nicest MS66RD Lincoln you may ever see...

I just got this one back (it was my Quarterly Special). This coin is gorgeous in person. I still don't know how/why it didn't make MS67RD. Could it be because of a few tiny toning spots here or there? There's no ugly carbon on the coin, and I've owned some MS67RD's that had a few specks. This coin is so far superior to all the other MS66RD's I've owned it's not even funny! The luster and color are so very nice. Maybe one day I'll resubmit but playing that game gets tiresome and expensive...

Very, very nice, the photo seems to be hiding some detail but I see some nicks on the jacket, toning spot on R of Liberty with a couple below it, a toning spot between "F" and "A" of "OF AMERICA", minor tick in a couple of the letters on the reverse. This might be just enough to give it a 66 instead of a 67.

Then again maybe not and a re-submit will get the 67 you desire.

Either way you have a coin that looks better than most in any grade. image

Maybe the quota for 67s is maxed out...image

There is no doubt in my mind that your coin would look very comfortable in an MS67 Holder.

Not that I am justifying the grade assigned, because I cannot really justify it. The coin appears to be a solid 67 in my experience....but...

I have never seen a true-view photo be way off in color, and if the color of this photo matches the color of your coin, I would have to imagine the luster is somewhat subdued by the orange toning, as I always see on the orangish colored Lincolns. With subdued luster, the coin could be construed as a 66. Remember that generally any Lincoln cent grading MS67 has to have bright, vibrant luster.

That's the ONLY excuse I can find for the coin possibly grading 66...but again, I don't agree with that, I'm just providing a possibility.

Really nice 37! I'd be proud to own it in any holder. Shag

Maybe it's the rim hits that held it back. There are some hits around 11 o'clock on the obverse, and some on the reverse around 9 o'clock. Besides that the coin looks 67 all day. Grading must be tight!

I think you were robbed. PCGS is very, very tight these days. I haven't been able to get a single NGC MS67RD Lincoln crossed, and I've chosen excellent coins.

Here, FWIW, is a PCGS 67RD '37 Lincoln. Yours is better, IMO. Color is tough to assess in photos. The obverse of this example is very nice but taken together with the reverse, I feel yours is a nicer coin.
