2006P-1DO-017 Lincoln Cent Update???

Has anyone heard anything lately regarding the 2006P-1DO-017 Lincoln Cent?
It initially appeared that this coin was going to draw some long lasting attention, but it seems to have fizzled out. It was disappointing when it did not get listed in the new Cherry Pickers Guide, however, the new Cherry Pickers Guide was disappointing in itself.
The 2006P-1DO-017 Lincoln Cent has some strong doubling, but it basically can’t be seen without strong magnification, at least with my aging pair of eyes. So I’m just curious if it has dropped off the radar, or is making a quiet assent for future popularity.

Thanks for any update

Was it found in Mint sets or in OBW bank rolls? I've never heard or read anything about it?? Sounds interesting....

    Hoard the keys.
  • They have been found in OBW Bank rolls as we as pocket change, however, they have been somewhat isolated to Indiana and neighboring locations.

The 2006 DDOs were nice and I'm surprised they got as little attention as they have. Several are very neat. My favorites are 1DO-018, 1DO-017, 1DO-010, 1DO-007, 1DO-003.

My guess as to why they got so little attention is there were too many different ones.

  • I still have about (4) bricks of 2006's that I bought to search for these, there is a board member here who either discovered it and or found quite a few, I can't remember who it was but you may want to do a search on the forum....I'm sure it's here somewhere.

Murphy found it. And it's still one of my favorites... it's just so hard to believe this came off a single squeeze! Should have been in the cherrypicker's guide for sure, but they seem to be more interested in assigning the "doubled earlobe" variety for 2006. That shows a strong secondary piece of the earlobe south, but it is in my opinion of lesser significance. What a "classic" spread on liberty, the motto, and even the date. Check out mine:

Agree! That 1DO-017 should have been in the CPG. I think they ignored how the doubling on 017 shows on most of the coin in lieu of how much spread the doubled earlobe had but ignored that it only shows on the earlobe.

Here's a pic of 1DO-010, it's a class 6 so it's wide without separation but still can be noticed without a glass if your eye catches the big wide date or how the 00 centers are so football shaped. It's also listed as Coneca die-5 but not sure if it shows in their online listing:

I don't understand why it didn't make it. JT Stanton personally assured me the coin would be in there (99.9% chance - his words).
