Let's focus on some positives.
Post a good to great story about a favorite B&M. Here's one of mine.
This happened back in March or April of this year.
I went into one of our local dealers and told him I was trying to find all the Cherrypicker's Guide varieties. He offered to let me go through what seem like about three to five gallons of Winged Liberty Ladies. He offered to sell them to me for melt. That's right no matter what I found I could buy it at melt. I managed to pick out a few minor double dies RPMs, and an Illusive 1942-S Inverted S dime. This was done on two Saturdays. The first one I found a couple minor things, and it was on the second Saturday I found the Inverted S.
Looking through a 20x and 30x for hours on end is not much fun, but if something looked like it had potential I bought it. I would need to take it home and check it in my microscope to verify. Needless to say, I bought a bunch of stuff that wound up being just common silver, but that was okay, because it was a fair price.
When I was done, I told him what I found and what I thought I found and he tallied up the count and priced it accordingly.
I have been a customer of his for many years, and continue to go back.
So, lets hear your positive numismatic dealer, or brick and mortar stories!

Hoard the keys.
Coin shop number 2
Go in the coin store walk to the back. Dealer approches and asks if he can help. I say do you have any toned morgans. He asks if I want them graded or raw. I say I will take a look at everything with color. He pulls out a raw 1883-O grades it a 64 its really a 63. It has a little color more of a target tone with a slight blue hue to it. I ask how much? He states 270.00! At this point its very hard for me not to laugh. I say I will pass but if you get anything graded feel free to give me a call and I hand him a card. Yup you guessed it ive never heard from him
Its late but I will post coin shop 3 and 4 at a later date

<< <i>Met a pretty girl in a coin shop. She asked me to escort her to a dance. That was kind of nice. I hope it's not Polka. >>

It doesn't get any better than that.
Now this wasn't a new customer scenario as I had purchased many coin from RMC prior to this so we did have a dealer/collector relationship.

You do realize that this is a positive experience post, right? .....PS--"you sir are an idiot" ?? Do people really talk like that in real life?
I have 4 shops within 10 miles of my home and have yet to have a bad experience at any of them. I have been collecting since about the "76-77" area. I remember when Scott Hocevar started out back in 86 and thinking wow another shop in town. Scott runs the Sears shop of our area a lot of everything. and the guys at J&R's always have something new to shoot the bull about and are very knowledgeable and will share information freely . JP's is a small antique shop that has a small coin area. at he gentleman that works there is one of the kindest and most polite gentleman I know in the business. And Cliff at CC's Coins is just a riot, He and I have become good personal friends and I give him a hand with grading once in awhile when he gets overwhelmed with what is coming in. We always have a great time. (Same dry sense of humor).
Like I said I feel really Lucky.

i went to my local shop , he knows me from a few times i visit in the past. he calls me over to the side counter and said you like morgans right???
YES i do.... puts a complete set of morgans on the counter that he just purchased.
the cool part, he gave me first look to cherry pick !!! thought that was nice of him.
I asked a friend if he knew of a coin shop where the owner would be straight with me. He directed me to a a place on the Parks highway, between Wasilla and Mt. Denali called "Debbies." I took with me one of each type of coin. The older gentleman, manning the store, very patiently explained what each coin was. He explained the proper etiquette for handling them. He told me how to keep them dry if they were going to live in Hawaii. He sold me a Redbook and told me to read and research what I had before I sold anything. He didn't try to buy anything or sell me anything. He said I had a bunch of reading to do first.
He showed me stunningly beautiful coins from their inventory - that he knew I couldn't buy, just because he could see that I "got it," and thought that they were beautiful too.....
I hope he's well and healthy and happy. And, if you're on your way to Mt McKinley, stop and shop at Debbies!
