Which should I buy?

American Caramel Cy Young

or

T206 Tris Speaker

I think both cards are amazing but I only have money for one in mid grade.

Please explain your decision to try and help me make mine.

    I voted for Tris Speaker, only because it has sentimental value to me. Back when I was a kid (about 10), my best friend at the time had a GREAT card collection for our age. His Dad also collected. Well one day his Dad bought him a T206 Tris Speaker! We were both floored! Whenever we had our cards out, that thing would be sitting on the table, center stage! Anyway, I'll never forget that card. I've since lost touch with him, but I'm sure he and his Dad has one heck of a collection by now.

    This depends on which American Caramel Young that you have in mind. The Boston Young is a beautiful portrait whereas the Cleveland Young has a generic strip card like appearance. The T206 Speaker isn't really the most striking card either. Based on desirability and appearance I'd take the Boston Young.

    K - I'm not sure which way to go - what are you collecting?

    Why did you pick those two cards?

    Here's a 4.5 Speaker with a BIN of $685.

    And here's a 3 Young with a BIN of $1595.

    I'm not that familiar with the prices on these cards - but based on what I just saw - the 2 cards are not on par with respect to your desire for a 'midgrade' - so if money is an issue, at this time - the Speaker would be the card of choice.

    That's about all I can say since I don't know what I'm talking about beyond this - good luck!

    If money is no issue get the Cy Young, otherwise go with the Speaker in a better grade.

    I'm think that I'm gonna try for the Cy Young and fall back on the Tris Speaker if that doesn't work out. Basically I'm looking at a PSA 4 Cy Young on Ebay or a PSA 5 from a local card shop. My budget is $3k so we'll see how things go.

    They are in the registry for the All-Time Red Sox set. Didn't want a T206 Cy Young because none of them are in a Boston uniform. The Tris Speaker has been a card I've wanted since even before I started the set.

    My vote would be for Cy...nothing against Tris Speaker of course but Cy Young....WOW.

    i really like the tris speaker card better, heck it's an action shot! lol
