This just came today with an Anacs photo certificate. Can any of you tell ID it. Check out the die cracks, clashing and there appears to be die chip in the wing.

Thanks.

  • I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that its a 3A. I just bought one exactly like that a few days ago. I'll post pictures in a bit. But it is a clashed t design which is a 3A. you just happen to have the 1887 p which is my "specialty".

Sorry, not much, even in LDS(dbl clashed). Most VAM prices are in the dumps, but common ones are even worse; all in all, I'd be happy with $5 to $10 above "sheets".

1887 VAM 3A is not a rare coin, but the strong 't' die clash makes it desirable. That it's an accessible variety doesn't make it any less cool.

I don't know how you guys do it. I went to Vamworld, and I was looking at the closeup photos, and I can't make out a T on the photo and I was looking at Clashed E, and could not find the E. Would one of you be kind enough to point out the T on my coin?

    Thanks.

The clashed t is from Trust in the motto. Generally speaking, you will see a clashed I, n, and/or G at the neck line. The t or st clashes from Trust appear in the V in the hair opposite the second right star.

  • Here are the pics of my 3A. the "t" from trust is located near the lower right curls of her hair. Mine is double clashed, but this is what it looks like.

and this is the full coin. only the "t" matters to make it a 3A. not worth much above normal. not that rare. most VAMs aren't. they are just a collectable aspect of that coin. I'm working on collecting all the 1887 P VAMS.
