Help!...I need some assistance on a bust half attribution

BlackhawkBlackhawk Posts: 3,899 ✭✭✭
I don't know if it's the flat strike on the reverse or what, but I can't seem to match tis one up. The reverse has some die cracks, most notably the one across the bottom of the wing to the U. Both sides have quite a bit of die clashing. Any ideas?

I'm no expert, but that appears to be an O-108 (Obv. 6/Rev. F), an R2 die marriage. The 1 in the date is high, and the extensive die cracks on the reverse would appear to agree with this attribution. It's not a half dime, but we'll see if the Bust Half experts agree with my attribution.

Mr Halfdime, I think that you're correct. After looking at some examples in the Heritage archives, I can see that many have this die crack across the wing. The weak wing and die clashes are something that the others pictured don't have, but maybe this one is a slightly later strike. Thanks!

I vote for O-108 as well. Horizontal shield lines look to go a little past the edge of the shield.

    Try 108a.
