experience with buyer's agents

Anyone want to share a good experience with a dealer acting as your agent to bid at a coin auction?

Who did you use? What did they charge? Were you happy with what you won?

I have served as an agent to bid at an auction. The typical fee is 5% assuming that it is an auction I am going to. If it is an auction I will not be at then there are a lot of extra associated costs.

5% and I strongly encourage using buying agents when you can not view the coins yourself. The stuff they will stop you from buying will more then offset the 5% premium and save you money in the long run. There are several good ones in this forum. Most auction house pictures are not good enough representatives of the coin itself. Sometimes they are better and others they are worse. PM me if you want some suggested buying agents. Some are specialized in certain areas. For example, If I wanted to buy patterns I would use Andy Lustig in a heatbeat ( I'm sure Andy is great on all series but he's maven on patterns for sure)....JMO...MJ

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

I think twice I asked Mark Feld to act on my behalf on particular pieces. I don't remember the rate but felt it was more than fair when we discussed it prior to the sale. In both cases after viewing the coin his advice was to pass and not bid at all. I'm sure he saved me a headache.

I had the same experience and I highly recommend Mark, I think his juice was 5% if he got you the coin.
