It is an amazing amount of money.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

  • I think the saddest part is that 12 of the top 13 Annual salaries are by proven steroid users. The only unproven is highly believed to be whether he knew about it or not....

number 87 on the all-time list was rather humorous

I think it is amazing that ARod has probably made more money in his career than every ball player from 1887-1975 put together. Just think how much some of those guys have made when you add in endorsements...Huge!

    Pujols is #94 ..... Halladay is #97!

I smell single digit ratings for both in the near future image

    What are you talking about?

    1. Alex Rodriguez
    2. Barry Bonds
    3. Randy Johnson
    4. Manny Ramirez
    5. Derek Jeter
    6. Gary Sheffield
    7. Greg Maddux
    8. Ken Griffey
    9. Pedro Martinez
    10. Mike Mussina
    11. Carlos Delgado
    12. Kevin Brown

Please show me where Jeter, Randy Johnson, Mussina, Pedro and frankly Griffey and Maddux have ever been proven to taken steroids.
  • Matt, I think he was referring to the single season salaries. The top 10 are only 3 players.

You listed CAREER salary earners, not ANNUAL

  • << <i>what the heck is Moises Alou doing on that list??? >>

Not too shocking since Mike Hampton and Shawn Green are above him.

The top 15 players have combined career salaries of over 2 Billion dollars.

Wow, that is hard to fathom!! Think of how many cards just one of those annual salaries would buy!
  • Chan Ho"outa the" Park and Richie "I strike out at least twice a game" Sexson are a embarrasement on this list. Just think how much Ripken would have made if his career would have started 10 years later than it did.

If there is one single person that sticks out like a sore thumb on the career list it has to be Darren Dreifort. What the heck did this guy ever do?

Ripken was a small market guy and had a "lifer" mentality, as did his ball club. It would have been tough for him to be at the tip top.

Jeter = most overpaid player in the game

I'm not saying he's not a quality player, and a great SS, but man....he's not worth that kind of scratch unless the Yanks make it to the Series

wow, thats a ridiculous amount of money

    To put this in perspective:

The entire Rays TEAM's salary is about two years worth of A-Rod's salary. And who made it to the World Series last year and who stayed home? image

Mike Sweeney sticks out to me. What a great player that was stuck on some really bad teams. Always could have taken more money, but never really did. Still did pretty well though.

It's prolly important to remember that the REASON the
players are highly paid is because they are WORTH IT
to the owners who make the investment.
