Was hoping someone could answer this for me. I know this is not eBay help but you guys seem to know alot about eBay.
Is it OK to watermark my pictures with my website name? I knowI cannot link to my website from the auction description so figure this may work.
Thanks in advance!

A link is anything that takes a user off the eBay site, including text, images, logos, or icons. A link can be a URL, such as "www.mysite.com", or text, such as "please put a 'www' and a '.com' around my user ID". These types of links are not allowed.
You can use images that are not on ebay.
There's a thread here on the forum with great instructions if you can find it
<< <i>Image hosting is not the same as a link.
You can use images that are not on ebay. >>
That's not what he wants to do. He wants to put his website name in his image. I would think that would be a good way to get your listings ended if the eBay cops got it in their mind to report you.
As with most ebay rules you can do it but if it gets reported they might end the listing.
Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
<< <i>I've seen others do it. >>
Like GrumpyEd said, you can do just about anything as long as nobody reports you. But you didn't ask if you could do it- you asked if it was OK to do it. Based on what it says on eBay, I'd think not, but everybody is free to decide for themselves what they think eBay means.
<< <i>I guess I'll just have to give it a shot . I know I'm allowed to put the link in my "about me" Page but don't think many people visit that. I don't think you're allowed to link to that page from your description however. >>
sure you can. Per ebay: "You may include links to your About Me page in your listings. "
Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
<< <i>Linking to Photos of Your Items
Sellers may include links to photos of the item for sale. The photo pages may also contain discrete links to other pages that offer items for sale outside-of-eBay, but may not contain descriptions of or links to specific items on other sites.
Linking to Picture Galleries
Sellers may also link to a page where information relating to eBay or Half.com items is grouped in a picture gallery or similar format as long as the page otherwise complies with eBay's links policies. This gallery page may also contain discrete links to other pages that offer items for sale outside-of -eBay, but may not contain descriptions of or links to individual items on other sites. >>
Based on my interpretation of the above, eBay offers you a loophole:
1. Hyperlink your auction image to your own hosted image or photo gallery.
2. Place a "discreet" link to your Web site on your image / photo gallery page.
I think that's your best option. I do like the watermark idea also, but to me it's just not worth the risk, knowing that there's a sea of vigilantes out there who apparently have nothing better to do with their time than finding and reporting minor listing violations. Better to play it safe, IMHO.
