I was referring to the slab.

No guarantee of a crossover with that centering... Nice surface though, usually has print issues.

With some of the nice looking 1962 George Witt cards I've seen the members here scan and submit, only to come back as 7s, I will confidently say that the SGC 88 in the linked eBay auction above has no chance of crossing into a PSA 8 holder.

On a more positive note, my new business model will be to look for sharp, off centered, 1962 George Witt cards to submit to SGC.

I'd say the most likely outcome of a straight up crossover attempt (ie not cracked out) in order would be N1, 8, 7.

My belief is that if the card is cracked from holder successfully the card has a strong chance for a straight 8.In my few dealing in sending in SCG I always come out equal never lower.

If it could have been a PSA 8 Tony would have had it in a PSA 8 slab.

    Good for you.

SDavid, my apologies. I thought you might have been referring to the SGC holder.
  • as someone who likes SGC holders, its a nice card, sure its a tad off center for some. I wouldnt pay that kind of money for a common in any holder, but centering like that doesnt bother me in the least.

No chance in my opinion of getting an 8 on a raw sub and definately would not cross to an 8.

I think it's got a shot. How cool is that software he has to magnify the pic?

SGC seems to value centering slightly less than PSA. That card has absolutely no shot at crossing to a PSA 8 - especially given the pop report on PSA 8's for it.

According to PSA centering guidelines, I believe it would meet 8 criteria, as it seems to be no worse than 70/30. It is also 50/50 t/b. The corners are very nice. Depending on the ending price, it might be a good pickup for someone willing to try to cross it. The last PSA 8 went for $2400 and the others for over $3000.

$3000 for a common 1962 topps baseball card... in an 8!!??

That is almost beyond belief !

Everyone seems so nonchalant about it, like it's normal, but seems pretty abnormal to me!
