Trying to post photos. Help!

I see photos of almost 200k in the threads, yet get a message that my photos won't be accepted because they exceed 50k. What are the limits?

Do some members get special preference or accommodation for some reason?

I have collected U.S coins for many years, and then Civil War Tokens, but am now actively building a collection of 18th Century Conder Tokens, the coins that made the Industrial Revolution a whopping success. : )

Go to www.photobucket.com. Open an account and upload pictures there... then post here.

    And Welcome to the boards!

Get a photobucket account. A limited version is free (or use to be). Once you are signed in you can upload pictures from your computer to that account. If you place your cursor over a picture in photobucket you get a four position menu. You want to highlight and copy the IMG code. You can simply paste that code into your message and once you post or reply to a message your image appears. Could not be any easier.

if you hit "quote" and not "reply" to the above post with pictures, you will see the IMG code to put in the post.

Heh, that's possible, but I doubt it has anything to do with picture posting.

Most members use Photobucket to host pictures, but there are other similar sites.

    Oh, and welcome aboard!!image
  • Thanks, everybody. I thought I had to use Manage Attachments, etc..

Glad that's over. I know how to use PhotoBucket.

Now I'll have to see if 1024 pixel images will work, or if I have to resize images to smaller for here.

I'll work on that tonight sometime.

    Thanks again. : )

Just choose your sizeon Photobucket before you download and voila...small,medium,large,huge
  • How do I get a 100 x 100 thumbnail into the icons so I can choose mine?

Do I need to forward it to an administrator for approval and placement in icon base?

    Thanks. : )

I've figured out how to place images in posts. Thanks, everybody. : )

  • Thanks for the welcome, all. : )

I wonder if this gif will work here. Gif files lose a bit of zip, but can show some animation.

Es werken! Thanks for your helpful tip, MsMorrisine. : )

There is a testing forum on the boards. Go up to the drop down navigation menu. It's at the bottom. Very useful place!

  • Next, since I started this thread, I'd ask about avatars., and keep all of my questions in just this single thread.

I am still quite new here. : )

Periodically, I believe there is a signup time, perhaps 30 seconds long, during which a member can upload their own avatar.

I don't want to use some generic avatar, or somebody else's.

Why does this have to be so inconvenient, or am I missing something?

I did not notice help in this regard in the Test Forum. I can see how quoting brings up the code and that's helpful.

    Thanks. : )

  • Thanks, tahoe. I'll be looking forward to the 15th of the month, to upload my avatar.

I have about 15 days left to select the right one. : )

Now to figure out where on the site I need to be to do that, when the time comes. : )

  • Well that didn't work. On the 15th, I searched everywhere for some indication of a place to upload my avatar.

    I couldn't find any.

    I guess it's kept a secret, eh?

Couldn't even find a way to email admins here.

Golly, this place is tricky. : (
