1879-S Morgan reverse of 1878 toned ??

I have had this one for sometime now and always wondered if its the reverse of 1878.


Comparing it to VAM World the breast does look flat and the arrow feathers look straight and lastly the mm looks small.
Also the r in trust is partially broken.

Am I right?

Also, what grade do you say and is it worth grading?

Very nice coin!!! to me it looks like rev. of 78... stright arrow feathers? i would have to say like maybe... 64ish.imho

yes, rev of 78. looks like a 55.

Looks pretty AU to me. It is the 78 reverse. I dig the textile bag tone though.

Very nice coin. It is the rev. of 78. The obverse looks BU but the reverse looks AU due to weakness in the Eagle's feathers. Also, there appears to be textile toning on Miss Liberty's cheek. If you ever decide to part with this coin, please let me know so I can make an offer.

I'd say AU details, but it looks cleaned at some point long ago...

I hope I'm wrong.

I'm uncomfortable with the coin. It is definately Rev. of '78 as has already been observed. IMO, it is AU...which leads to my discomfort. I find it odd for an AU coin to be so heavily toned with all that color. IMO it wouldn't slab. I'd love to see the coin in hand. If it is strictly unc., then its chance of slabbing go up, though I still think it is a long shot.

Maybe I just haven't seen a reverse of 78 with so much nice color I have been hoping for a better grade
